Why Your Pipes Are Knocking

So let’s talk about the problem that brought you here: your pipes are knocking around. In most circumstances, pipes knock around because there’s an issue with the water pressure coming from your home’s main water supply. We know that hearing something like this on a regular basis is concerning. The air that’s used to pressurize those pipes is so important because it’s what allows your water to move freely throughout your pipes. You need this pressure to have a successful plumbing system.

When your pipes start to knock because your water is moving around suddenly, it’s typically because the air pressure is off balance. This is when you start to hear the knocking. When you notice these sounds, it’s important to schedule an appointment with our professionals.

Why You Need Professional Service

It is possible to fix this knocking sound, but it’s important to have a professional perform the necessary repairs. We encounter many homeowners who try to perform their plumbing services on their own. We understand why you might be tempted to do something like this. There are so many resources available that promise to properly guide you through any plumbing job. While it’s possible to DIY things on your own, we suggest having a professional perform the work.

Plumbing professionals are the way to go because we’re the only ones who have the training and experience necessary to improve your home’s plumbing system. It’s highly likely that you’ll do more harm than good to your home’s plumbing system completely by accident. Your most important role in all this is to alert a plumbing professional as soon as possible.

Preparing Your Plumbing for Warm Weather

drain-with-chain-plugYou might have been a little shocked to read this title. Most of the time, homeowners are thinking about preparing their plumbing for winter. There are many ways to fortify your plumbing against winter temperatures so that your pipes don’t freeze over and burst. One of the best things about living in Florida is that you never have to deal with worries like this. Instead, though, you should prepare your plumbing for the warm weather of spring and summer.

When we talk about preparing your plumbing for warm weather, we’re talking about considering things like natural gas to power your grill, a pool heater, and more. There are many things to consider so let’s talk plumbing in Orlando, FL below…

Here Are a Few Ways to Prepare Your Plumbing

Here are a few things to consider when it comes to your plumbing when the weather starts to warm up:

Gas Barbecues

We do gas appliance installation on our team and this is something we hear homeowners mention more often as the weather warms up. We’re lucky enough to have so many warm days in Florida. We know that you’re going to want to spend many of them soaking up the sun in the comfort of your backyard. There’s nothing better than having a great barbecue grill to add to the mix. We recommend natural gas barbecue grills because they’re efficient and they do a great job. If you’re looking for a team to install the piping, then we can help you with the process.

Pool Heaters

Who doesn’t love a late-night swim? The trouble with this is that even in warm Orlando weather, you might get a little cold. This is where a pool heater can come in handy. Since every single one of our team members is knowledgeable and experienced, we can help you choose between all the different models that are available on the market. Of course, we’re skilled installers as well. This means that after we help you find the pool heater, we can install it flawlessly. We care about the quality of your home in every aspect and we want to help you achieve success.

Piping Installation

Spring AC Tips: Bigger Isn’t Always Better

Now that temperatures are starting to warm up and springtime is on the horizon, homeowners are starting to call us about air conditioning services. We’ve got a few months until things get hot, but there’s absolutely nothing wrong with getting ready for these scorching hot temperatures early on in the year. For many people, that means organizing the installation or replacement of a new AC in Cedar Grove, NJ. If you’re just looking for the right team to get this job done, then you can stop right there and give us a call!

However, for anyone else that’s trying to learn about their AC installation or replacement this spring, we’ve got some news for you–the system needs to have a load calculation performed. An air conditioner that’s too small won’t be able to cool off your home, but an AC that’s too large will also lead to a few problems you’d probably rather avoid. Read on to learn more!

An AC That’s Too Small

First off, we’ll tackle the more obvious problem. An air conditioner that’s too small for your home simply won’t have the power to cool off the entire house. Centralized air conditioning systems (as well as heat pump systems) are designed to cool an entire home. They’re not like window units that can be set up in strategic locations. If the central air conditioner is too small for your house, it simply won’t be able to meet your comfort demands and might overheat as it runs for too long and causes stress to build up in the system.

An AC That’s Too Large

You might be thinking to yourself that a larger air conditioner isn’t ideal, but it’s not bad, right? Well, that’s not entirely true.

An AC that’s too large will fail to properly cool your home off in a normal cycle, which leads to a problem we call “short cycling,” that we’ll talk about below. Basically, an AC that’s too large will run your energy bill up, need to be replaced early, and might even need constant repairs.

Short Cycling

Does your AC run in short, frequent bursts? This isn’t normal, and it’s actually causing extensive wear and tear on certain components of the system. The start-up process is actually the most energy-intensive process that your air conditioner performs, so shorter cycles are going to cause your system to overwork.

An AC that’s too large will cool your home too quickly and abruptly shut down, causing only the start-up components to get worn down and require replacement too early.

Call Our Team for Professional Installation

The only surefire way to avoid these kinds of problems from happening to your air conditioner is through professional air conditioning installation. Our team has specific high-tech equipment that can measure the air in your home so that we accurately set you up with the right-sized AC unit. This is an expensive problem to avoid, so make sure you do everything you can to stop your AC from being the victim of a botched installation!

Can Copper Piping Cause Plumbing Problems? 7 Signs of Trouble

Copper Piping

Copper piping has been a popular choice for homes and commercial buildings since the 1960s. While it does have its advantages, copper piping plumbing also has a fair number of disadvantages – especially if it begins to corrode, as was the case in Folsom, CA in 2020 (more on this later). In this blog, we’ll discuss the good and the bad when it comes to copper piping, and what to look for if you suspect a problem with your copper piping. Read More

Why Chemical Drain Cleaners Are a Bad Idea

If you talk to a plumber, you’ll hear most of them give pretty consistent advice: flush your water heater, only flush waste and toilet paper (no wet wipes!), and never use store-bought chemical drain cleaners. Our team of technicians is no exception to this. We give a lot of the same advice because it’s true. Something that’s come to our attention recently, though, is that many homeowners don’t understand the “why” behind the advice to steer clear of chemical drain cleaners. We want to answer some common questions surrounding this today.

In the meantime, we want to reiterate that our professionals are always available to answer questions and provide you with great service. We’re the experts when it comes to plumbing in Glendale, AZ

What’s the Big Deal?

So what’s the big deal when it comes to using chemical darin cleaners to address the clogs in your home? It actually can cause quite the fuss. Here are a few of the key problems that chemical drain cleaners cause:

  • They’re Caustic: Chemical drain cleaners use a cocktail of chemicals to alleviate a clog in your home. Most chemical drain cleaners that you can run out to your local store and get are highly acidic. This is what eats away at a clog. This isn’t where the trouble is either, it’s when it starts to eat away at the pipe itself after it’s done with the clog. This is why it’s never a worthwhile gamble.
  • They’re Toxic: If you head over to your local store and pick up a drain cleaner, you should take a look at the long list of warnings on the bottle. Chemical drain cleaners aren’t safe if they come in contact with your skin or eyes. They also create fumes that can linger in your home and cause harm.
  • They Don’t Get the Job Done: The funny thing about chemical drain cleaners is that although they’re caustic and corrosive, they typically can’t even get the job done. This is common if your clog is located near a bend in your pipe or if it’s had time to harden. The chemical drain cleaner typically only clears the clog enough to let a little water through. This means that there’s still the perfect breeding ground for the next clog. It’s not really a full solution, typically it’s only a temporary fix to a growing issue.

Professional Service Is the Answer

So we’ve spent a lot of time telling you what you shouldn’t do above, but what should you do when it comes to your home? If you’re trying to figure out how to clean your drains, we’re here to let you know that the answer lies in professional service. Professional work is the only way to ensure that you solve an issue like a clog once and for all without hassle. When you go with work from our professionals, you’re going to get a repair that’s simple, effective, and to the point. Let our team members handle this.
